Codice d'onore, è un film del 1992 diretto da Rob Reiner. Il caporale dei Marine degli Stati Uniti, Lance Harold Dawson, e il soldato scelto Louden Downey si trovano a dover affrontare la Corte Marziale, rei di aver ucciso il collega William Santiago a seguito di un pestaggio nella base navale di Guantanamo. Santiago, veniva spesso vessato e disprezzato dai suoi compagni Marines a causa delle sue scarse doti da combattente. Proprio per questo, aveva chiesto più volte di essere trasferito altrove, ma la richiesta era stata più volte respinta dal colonnello Nathan Jessup (Jack Nicholson), il comandante della base. Mentre l’accusa guidata da Jack Ross (Kevin Bacon), ritiene che il pestaggio sia avvenuto a causa dell'esplosione di un colpo nel territorio cubano, l'investigatrice navale JoAnne Galloway (Demi Moore) sospetta invece che i due Marines abbiano eseguito un ordine, il cosiddetto "Codice Rosso": una violenta punizione non ufficiale.
Galloway vuole difenderli, ma il caso è affidato al tenente Daniel Kaffee (Tom Cruise), un avvocato inesperto e poco entusiasta con una propensione a patteggiare. Quando Kaffee negozia un patteggiamento con il pubblico ministero, i due commilitoni lo rifiutano, insistendo sul fatto che il loro comandante aveva dato loro l'ordine di effettuare un "codice rosso" e che non avrebbero mai voluto che Santiago morisse. L’avvocato della difesa, insieme all’attraente tenente Galloway, decide di portare i due in tribunale e mettere la sua carriera a rischio per difendere i Marines. I due avvocati, durante l’indagine e il processo, dovranno allora lottare contro il rigido codice morale, la freddezza e le reticenze delle alte sfere dell’esercito americano...
