Edge of Tomorrow - Senza domani è un film del 2014 diretto da Doug Liman, ispirato al romanzo All You Need Is Kill, scritto da Hiroshi Sakurazaka.
Nel 2015 i Mimic, una razza aliena di mostri tentacolari, giunge sulla Terra all’interno di un asteroide. L’invasore conquista rapidamente gran parte dell'Europa continentale e la sua avanzata sembra inarrestabile.
Nel 2020, un'alleanza militare globale (UDF), stabilita per combattere la minaccia aliena, raggiunge finalmente una vittoria a Verdun. Il trionfo è merito soprattutto delle straordinarie abilità in battaglia del soldato Rita Vrataski (Emily Blunt). In Gran Bretagna, dopo aver declassato il maggior William Cage (Tom Cruise) del dipartimento di relazioni con i media, il generale dell'UDF lo spedisce in Francia dove avrà inizio una controffensiva della razza umana.
Nella base dell’esercito alleato a Heathrow, Cage conosce la sua squadra, viene brevemente addestrato e spedito il giorno dopo in battaglia sulle coste della Francia. L'invasione è un fallimento colossale: l’intero esercito viene ucciso e il leader della resistenza Vrataski muore. Durante l’offensiva Cage, non avente alcuna esperienza militare, usa una mina per uccidere un Mimic insolitamente grande, ma muore quando il sangue acido dell'alieno si dissolve su di lui.
Inaspettatamente Cage si risveglia a Heathrow rivivendo gli eventi della mattina precedente. I suoi tentativi di mettere in guardia l’esercito contro l'invasione vengono ignorati, e ripete il ciclo della morte sulla spiaggia ancora e ancora. Durante una delle disastrose invasioni vissute, l’ex maggiore salva il sergente Vrataski, che intuisce che il soldato è bloccato in un loop temporale. La donna gli ordina di venirla a cercare al prossimo risveglio…
