    TRAMA

    Quando a Lars e Sigrit, aspiranti musicisti, viene data la possibilità di rappresentare il loro paese alla più grande competizione musicale del mondo, l'Eurovision Song Contest, finalmente avranno la possibilità di dimostrare che ogni sogno che si ha è un ideale per cui valga la pena lottare.

    La commedia segue le vicende di Lars e Sigrit, due musicisti con un sogno ambizioso: vincere l'Eurovision Song Contest, una celebrazione canora che vede partecipare musicisti di tutta Europa, ma non solo, con un vasto e imprevedibile range di talenti, dal chitarrista che suona una ballata, alla band pop con coreografie di luci e balletti. Lars ha perso la madre quando era ancora piccolo e questo trauma lo ha colpito talmente profondamente da arrestare in un certo senso il suo sviluppo, lasciandolo in uno stato di perenne infantilismo, anche da adulto. Quando nel 1974 guarda le finale degli Eurovision alla TV con gli ABBA che cantano Waterloo, gli si apre un nuovo mondo oltre il dolore della perdita e da quel giorno il suo sogno è vincere gli Eurovision per il suo paese, l'Islanda.

    Durante la visione di quelle finali era presente anche una ragazzina di nome Sigrit, uno spirito molto introverso che non parla mai. In quel momento Sigrit comincia a cantare a voce alta insieme a Lars, e da quel giorno i due sono inseparabili e formano una band, i Fire Saga. Lars e Sigrit vivono in una cittadina di nome Húsavík; lei fa l'insegnante di musica, lui fa il parcheggiatore, ma sono entrambi molto dediti alla loro musica e alla loro band, specialmente Lars.

    Nonostante tutti in paese non prendano sul serio Lars, Sigrit gli è fedelissima e crede in lui al 100%. A causa di un incidente che costa il posto ai prescelti per rappresentare l'Islanda agli Eurovision, i Fire Saga sono scelti per partecipare alla gara, con grande disappunto di tutto e per la felicità di Lars e Sigrit. Purtroppo Lars è talmente preso dal suo sogno che finalmente si sta realizzando che non si accorge che Sigrit è innamorata di lui...
