7500, il film diretto da Patrick Vollrath, segue la storia di Tobias Ellis (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), un giovane e tranquillo pilota americano che vive in Germania con la sua ragazza turca, Gökce (Aylin Tezel), che lavora come hostess.
I due, un giorno, si trovano a volare insieme per lavoro su un normale aereo passeggeri da Berlino a Parigi. Tobias è il secondo comandante affiancato da Michael (Carlo Kitzlinger), il primo pilota. Tutto sembra andare bene, fino a quando, poco dopo il decollo, improvvisamente un gruppo di terroristi tenta di prendere d'assalto la cabina di volo, ferendo gravemente Michael e il braccio di Tobias.
Il giovane co-pilota spaventato, riesce a chiudere la porta e contattare la torre di controllo per un atterraggio di emergenza. Ma i dirottatori iniziano ad agitarsi, uccidono un passeggero e ne prendono in ostaggio un altro minacciando di tagliargli la gola se Tobias non li lascerà entrare in cabina.
Tobias sarà così costretto ad affrontare una situazione inimmaginabile per impedire ai terroristi di massacrare tutti i passeggeri.
