Miles è un uomo impegnato in un lavoro che non ama e ancora innamorato della sua meravigliosa ex fidanzata Nova. La sua esistenza viene sconvolta quando si ritrova coinvolto nelle attività di un sito internet che obbliga degli sconosciuti a combattere in un gioco mortale, in modo da trasmettere in streaming le loro battaglie. I concorrenti sono scelti da una gang clandestina chiamata Schism che penalizza i partecipanti più deboli creando ulteriori ostacoli. Miles inizialmente riesce a sfuggire dal suo primo avversario ma, quando Nova viene rapita, deve finalmente smettere di correre e superare le sue paure se vorrà salvare la donna che ama.
