ex detenuto Danny (Roland Møller), che dopo un periodo in carcere, ottiene di scontare il tempo rimanente agli arresti domiciliari con una cavigliera elettronica. L'uomo vorrebbe condurre da questo momento in poi una vita tranquilla e trova rifugio nel motel gestito da Laurence (Veerle Baetens) - anche lei con un marito in carcere - dove inizia a fare diversi lavori in cambio di un tetto sulla testa. Qui Danny instaura un forte legame con la figlia della donna, Clara (Lola Le Lann). La ragazza ha un animo molto ribelle, ma vede nell'uomo quella figura paterna, che tanto manca nella sua vita; dal canto suo Danny cerca di rimanere distaccato, ma non riesce a non sentirsi legato a lei.
Il detenuto sembra aver trovato quello che desiderava una volta fuori di prigione, la tranquillità, ma questo clima sereno va in mille pezzi, quando Clara viene aggredita. Qualcosa di violento si risveglia in Danny, pronto a vendicare il male fatto alla ragazza...
