Più che una storia, quella della Decima Mas è un'avventura. Un'avventura anomala per i canoni militari italiani, un'avventura ambigua e controversa. Un'avventura che affonda le proprie radici in una fredda notte del 1918, quando due tenenti della marina italiana concepiscono per primi l'idea di un attacco a sorpresa con mezzi d'assalto subacquei, e la mettono in atto, soli di fronte alla profondità del mare e alla flotta nemica. Proprio a questo evento, accaduto nelle acque del porto di Pola, si ispirano i fondatori della Decima Flottiglia Mas.
