Caterina, Laura e Federico sono tre giovani che lavorano assieme in un grande magazzino. Caterina e Laura sono cugine. Laura è fidanzata con Federico. I tre vanno molto d'accordo fra loro, fino al giorno in cui Caterina scopre di avere una bella voce e lascia il lavoro dei grandi magazzini per passare di successo in successo. Federico rincontra per caso Caterina frequentando un corso serale di lingua inglese. Tra i due nasce una reciproca simpatia che entrambi cercano invano di soffocare. Ma Caterina, per non far soffrire Laura, trova il pretesto per troncare ogni relazione con Federico, che torna da Laura.
Caterina, Laura and Federico are three young people working together in a department store. Caterina and Laura are cousins. Laura is engaged to Federico. The three get along very well with each other, until the day when Caterina discovers she has a beautiful voice and leaves the work of the department stores to succeed in success. Federico meets Caterina by chance, attending an evening course in English. Between the two there is a mutual sympathy that both seek in vain to suffocate. But Caterina, in order not to make Laura suffer, finds the excuse to sever any relationship with Federico, who returns to Laura.
