Barbara, una bella commessa dei Grandi Magazzini, prende un giorno improvvisamente fuoco, in mezzo alla gente, e muore bruciata, davanti all'inorridito Eddy, suo innamorato, e detective addetto alla sorveglianza del negozio. Il commissario Turoni della Squadra Omicidi cerca invano il colpevole, mentre un secondo analogo delitto provoca la morte di un'altra ragazza. Eddy decide allora di indagare da solo e scopre presto che l'assassino si è servito di un misterioso flacone di profumo "incendiario", fatto giungere in dono alle vittime, le quali avevano preso fuoco (dopo averlo usato), non appena erano venute a contatto con una forte sorgente di luce. Indagando nel passato di Barbara, Eddy viene a sapere di un incidente accaduto molti anni prima, quando lei e altre tre bambine, affidate ad una suora distratta, su di una spiaggia, e una di esse, Pamela, era stata spinta in acqua dalle altre, rimanendo orribilmente ustionata da un Iiquido giallastro, scaricato da una nave di passaggio. Salvata la terza vittima designata, Mariri, spegnendone con un estintore l'abito nuziale, incendiatosi durante la cerimonia, Eddy,servendosi di una foto delle quattro bambine, e aiutato da un'esperta di computer e di trucco femminile, arriva finalmente a identificare l'assassina. E' Pamela, decisa a vendicarsi delle responsabili di quell'incidente, che le aveva sfigurato tutto il corpo, risparmiando solo il viso. E lei, occupandosi di profumi di lusso, era naturalmente in grado di rendere un profumo "incendiario", per poter compiere i suoi delitti. Risolto brillantemente il caso, e divenuto superiore di Turoni, Eddy si dedica ora ad un'avventura con la ragazza, che lo ha aiutato nelle indagini.
Barbara, a great department store, takes a sudden fire day, in the midst of the people, and dies burned in front of the horrified Eddy, her lover, and detective shop keeper. Commissioner Turoni of the Homicide Team looks for the guilty in vain, while a second analogous crime causes the death of another girl. Eddy then decides to investigate and find out soon that the murderer has used a mysterious "incendiary" scent bottle, which was given to the victims, who had taken fire (after using it) as soon as they came to contact with a strong light source. Investigating in Barbara's past, Eddy comes to know about an accident that happened many years earlier when she and three other girls were entrusted to a distracted nun on a beach, and one of them, Pamela, had been pushed into the water by the other , remaining horribly burned by a yellowish liquid, discharged by a passing vessel. Saving the third designated victim, Mariri, extinguishing a bridal gown with a fire extinguisher, burning at the ceremony, Eddy, using a photo of the four girls, and assisted by a computer expert and female make-up, finally comes to identify the l 'murders. It is Pamela, determined to take revenge on those responsible for that accident, who had disfigured her whole body, saving only her face. And she, having luxurious scents, was naturally able to make an "incendiary" scent, in order to carry out her crimes. Resolved brilliantly in the case, and becoming Turoni's superior, Eddy now devotes himself to an adventure with the girl who helped him in the investigation.
