Leonardo, Rocco, Bruno e Pino - quattro trentenni universitari fuori corso - hanno preso a Firenze un alloggio comune. Leonardo, dopo pochi mesi di matrimonio, ha lasciato la moglie; Rocco vive con i soldi che gli ha lasciato la nonna e intanto fa il metronotte; Bruno, sposato con Marta, si fa vedere più che di rado in casa del suocero Berto, un mediocre industriale, che lavora a Follonica e vive con le due figlie Marta e Cecilia ormai sposate (quest'ultima amante di Bruno, che tra l'altro la obbliga a fare fatture false); Pino, che spera di ottenere successo come cabarettista anche se e afflitto da una lamentosa fidanzata. Quattro vite fallite e quattro giovani inerti e senza prospettive serie, impigriti da pizzerie e goliardate. L'unico che ha qualche sprazzo di lucidità e coscienza è Leonardo che si innamora di Letizia (sorella di Rocco), una mediocre attrice di fotoromanzi.
Leonardo, Rocco, Bruno and Pino - four thirty-year uneducated university students - have taken a common place in Florence. Leonardo, after a few months of marriage, left his wife; Rocco lives with the money his grandmother has left, and in the meantime he makes the metronothy; Bruno, married to Marta, is more than rarely seen in the home of his father - in - law Berto, a mediocre industrialist who works in Follonica and lives with his two daughters Marta and Cecilia now married (Bruno 's last lover, Others oblige him to make false invoices); Pino, who hopes to achieve success as a cabaretist, even though afflicted by a lamentous girlfriend. Four failed lives and four young inert and unprecedented prospects, impoverished by pizzerias and goliardate. The only one who has some clarity of lucidity and conscience is Leonardo who falls in love with Letizia (Rocco's sister), a mediocre actor of photorealges.
