Tipo calmo, ma furbo, anche se un po' squinternato, il non più giovane Travis fa il pistolero e, a detta di molti, nel West è il migliore. Suo fratello Moses è un uomo gigantesco che, per mantenere una decina di figli, perseguita i ricercatori come cacciatore di tagli. Tra loro c'è però da tempo del rancore e per questo non si incontrano mai. Finché una lettera arriva a Travis: mamma Ruth, energica donna che vive sola con il suo fucile, li vuole assolutamente a casa per Natale, anche per affidare ai suoi rampolli il tesoro lasciato dal defunto marito. Così Travis trova il fratello, si unisce a lui e con lui incontra varie peripezie, anche perché Moses vuole catturare Stone un bandito che vale ben quattromila dollari, quello stesso che Travis ha fatto scampare alla impiccagione con una interessata fucilata alla corda, affinché Moses possa concludere la caccia. Poi il duo si trova casualmente ed a torto coinvolto ed indiziato nella rapina ad una banca, che il bandito aveva organizzato. Frattanto Stone venuto a sapere qualcosa circa il tesoro di mamma Ruth si reca da costei mentre per conto proprio la tribù di Moses sta per arrivare. Qui giunti i due fratelli trovano nella casa paterna Stone, legato a dovere e terrorizzato dalla grintosa e bene armata Ruth. Il festino natalizio è turbato dall'arrivo di tutti gli uomini del paese vicino capeggiati dallo sceriffo Fox ostile a Travis e Moses ritenendoli in combutta con i rapinatori. Ma la notte del 25 dicembre offre un cielo pieno di stelle e le armi cadono a terra come per miracolo. Tutto viene risolto con una scazzottata generale: niente sangue, solo botte, in cui i due fratelli, ormai in pace fra di loro, giganteggiano e persino i bambini si danno un gran daffare. Quanto al tesoro, mamma Ruth, citando un passo della Bibbia, dice ai figli che esso consiste nell'amore fraterno ritrovato e, lasciando ai suoi cari casa e terra, si trasferisce a Denver.

Here come the two brothers are in the Stone family home, bound to duty and terrorized by armed Ruth spirited and well. The Christmas feast is disturbed by the arrival of all of the country led by hostile men near Fox Sheriff Travis and Moses holding them in league with the robbers. But on the night of December 25 it offers a sky full of stars and the weapons fall to the ground as if by miracle. Everything is resolved with a general fistfight: no blood, only the barrel, in which the two brothers, now in peace with one another, towering and even children are given a lot of trouble.
