La visione di “Ladies & gentlemen” per un amante degli Stones (e, in generale, del rock) è paragonabile ad una gita a Disneyland per un bambino, anzi meglio: come approdare nella terra promessa per un credente oppure direttamente sull’isola che non c’è per il sognatore. Ci troviamo nel 1972, i Rolling Stones tornano a suonare negli Stati Uniti - due concerti a Fort Worth e due a Houston - dal tempo dei tragici fatti del 6 dicembre 1969 a Altamont, quando gli Hell’s Angels dettero il peggio di loro stessi, per presentare il loro nuovo album “Exile on main street”, probabilmente - de gustibus permettendo - il loro miglior disco di sempre. Il dvd mostra un concerto che è il montaggio del meglio dei quattro concerti texani, quindi si può rimanere spiazzati nel vedere Mick con camicia bianca per poi ritrovarlo di blu vestito durante l’esecuzione del pezzo seguente. Ma sono trascurabili dettagli quando un concerto si apre con "Brown sugar" per chiudere con "Street fighting man". Di vero e incontrovertibile c’è che Mick Jagger è la rockstar più sexy che abbia mai calcato un palco e Keith Richards è il suo unico e inimitabile doppio. Mick Taylor ha lo stesso rapporto con l’assolo che ha l’orso con il favo del miele, mentre Watts e Wyman sono una sezione ritmica tanto umile quanto inesorabile.
The vision of "Ladies & Gentlemen" for a lover of the Stones (and, in general, the rock) is comparable to a trip to Disneyland for a child, even better: how to arrive in the promised land for a believer or directly on the island that there is for the dreamer. We are in 1972, the Rolling Stones returning to play in the United States - two concerts in Fort Worth and two in Houston - from the time of the tragic events of 6 December 1969 in Altamont, when the Hell's Angels gave the worst of themselves, to present their new album "Exile on main street" probably - de gustibus permitting - their best ever record. The DVD shows a concert that is assembling the best of the four Texans concerts, then you can remain displaced in seeing Mick with white shirt and then find him dressed in blue during the execution of the following piece. But details are negligible when a concert opens with "Brown Sugar" to close with "Street Fighting Man." True and incontrovertible is that Mick Jagger is the sexiest rock star that ever trod the stage, and Keith Richards is his unique and inimitable double. Mick Taylor has the same relationship with the solo that has the bear with honeycomb, while Watts and Wyman are so humble as a relentless rhythm section.
