Belinda Carlisle nasce il 16 agosto 1958 a Hollywood, California. Incomincia la sua carriera solista dopo aver lasciato i Go-Go nel 1984; dopo un paio d’anni esce Belinda, contenente il grande successo "Mad about you", brano che permette all’album di conquistare il disco d’oro. Nel 1987 è la volta di HEAVEN ON EARTH, il suo più grande riscontro commerciale. Runaway Horses segue nel 1989 e si rivela ancora un buon prodotto, cosa che invece non si può dire del successivo Live Your Life be Free (1991), che infatti fallisce l’entrata in classifica. Nel 1993 viene realizzato REAL e a questa pubblicazione segue la breve reunion dei Go-Go. Nel 1996 è la volta di A Woman and Man, altro lavoro poco fortunato.
Per un nuovo disco – dopo una serie di raccolte e compilation – bisogna aspettare il 2007, quando esce Voila.
