Trama: Chris Kyle, texano che cavalca tori e non manca un bersaglio, ha deciso di mettere il suo dono al servizio degli Stati Uniti, fiaccati dagli attentati alle sedi diplomatiche in Kenia e in Tanzania. Arruolatosi nel 1999 nelle forze speciali dei Navy Seal, Kyle ha stoffa e determinazione per riuscire e ottenere l'abilitazione. Perché come gli diceva suo padre da bambino lui è nato 'pastore di gregge', votato alla tutela dei più deboli contro i lupi famelici. Operativo dal 2003, parte per l'Iraq e diventa in sei anni, 1000 giorni e quattro turni una leggenda a colpi di fucile. Un colpo, un uomo. Centosessanta uomini abbattuti (e certificati) dopo, Chris Kyle torna a casa, dalla moglie, dai bambini e dai reduci, a cui adesso guarda le spalle dai fantasmi della guerra del Golfo. Una dedizione che gli sarà fatale.
