Lisa is named \"Student of the Millennium\", so Marge stresses that Homer has to attend due to past absences at most of the kids\' events, the most recent being the Father-Daughter dance. Homer then wakes up early and takes Maggie to the school auditorium where he passes by the time by writing his Superman novel. Meanwhile, Marge is waiting in line at the bank, and gets impatient after the line doesn\'t move (mainly due to the Old Jewish Man\'s desire to find someone to talk to), so she strikes up a conversation with an apparent charming man named Dwight (with noticeable bugged-eyes). He later takes out his pistol and holds up the bank. Gil Gunderson then arrives, prepared for his new job as a security guard, however he is repeatedly shot by Dwight\'s accomplice and left on the ground.

Homer is smugly waiting for Marge at the ceremony, though Marge privately calls him. After Marge tells him she\'s trapped (while hidden under a table), Homer begins to panic, though Marge attempts to comfort him by telling him, should she die, he should marry a list of people she has pinned up on their board (Lindsey Naegle, Booberella, and Blythe Danner). Dwight notices Marge on the phone and arrives to her. Dwight makes a compromise; he will promise to turn himself in as long as Marge promises to visit him in prison, to which she reluctantly agrees.

A nervous Marge returns home, shaking. Homer attempts to convince Marge not to visit Dwight in the prison, but Marge wishes to honor her promise and visit him. However, while going to the prison, she makes continuous stops at various necessities like dreidel shops, and apple-picking in order to avoid going to the prison. At the prison, Dwight expectantly waits for Marge, however Snake Jailbird tells him Marge wouldn\'t visit him. While watching Snake and his girlfriend, Gloria, Dwight becomes depressed. He calls Marge, however Marge attempts to destroy the phone. Dwight becomes angry, and Marge\'s guilt begins to get to her while watching a frightening horror movie about a prisoner who was to be electrocuted. Ironically at the same moment, Dwight is breaking out of Springfield Penitentiary. He finds Marge\'s address in a newspaper, and sets out to find her.

At home, while Bart and Lisa are watching an \"Annie Award-Winning\" Itchy and Scratchy episode, it is interrupted by Kent Brockman\'s news report on \"Dwight David Diddlehopper\"\'s escape from prison. Dwight begins stalking Marge in various places, such being on kites, at baseball games, and outside Costington\'s department store, were he successfully catches up to Marge and keeps her as his hostage.

Dwight takes her to the same amusement park where he was abandoned by his mother, with the intention to have Marge help him repay the time he had lost. He forces Marge to ride the Viking ship ride with him. Chief Wiggum arrives attempting to save Marge, but he is caught in the ride. A Mexican Squeaky Voiced Teen is unable to get him down from the ride, however Dwight sacrifices his body to jam the ride\'s gears, and in Marge\'s quote, \"Being the most unselfish thing anyone has ever done\". He survives, however, and returns to prison after being hospitalized. Back at the prison, Marge finally visits Dwight, and gives her a flattened dandelion encased in a bar of soap he had carved for her with a message on the back intending to recruit her in helping him another prison break. Marge refuses to help, but chooses to keep the carving as a way of remembering him.
