Alcuni temi della trilogia de Il Signore degli Anelli sono stati ripresi e adattati alle nuove atmosfere del film. A differenza della trilogia de Il Signore degli Anelli, non sono state donne a interpretare l'ormai solita canzone composta per i titoli di coda, bensì un uomo, Neil Finn che ha composto Song of the Lonely Mountain.
